AUGUSTA, Ga. ()- The Augusta Planning & Development Department wants your input on the current zoning ordinance.

It dates back to the 1960’s and sections have been amended over the years. But now a complete update is underway.

This zoning survey is more important than you might think.

It is designed for you to help create a thriving city.

The ordinance is outdated, and some city leaders say a new one would help design the garden city of the future.

They want to hear from you.

You are being asked to fill out an online survey. First just click on Augusta Ga Dot Gov.

Then scroll down to Zoning Ordinance Update-Your voice matters and click on Take the Survey.

Answer eleven questions then submit. It’s that simple..

I asked Commissioner Jordan Johnson why this survey is important.

“We want to get your input on how you want to see your communities from a greenspace perspective. From infrastructure and sidewalks to how do you want your downtown and how do you want your river walk? We want to get your opinion about what you feel Augusta should look like moving forward again. We always talk about the future of Augusta, but it’s important for us to understand that the future is here.”

To take part in that survey head to Augustaga.gov. Last day is June 1st.
