The Voice has been renewed for Season 28, and new details are emerging about the upcoming show. This includes the announcement that former One Direction star Niall Horan will be returning as a coach. Horan previously had this role in Seasons 23 and 24 and won with his contestants both times.

Snoop Dogg, who coached in Season 26, also returns for Season 28. Reba McEntire will serve as a coach again, and Michael Bublé will return for his third season after coaching in Seasons 26 and 27.

Fans React To Niall Horan Making His Comeback On The Voice

Ahead of The Voice Season 28, the show’s official Instagram account shared a poster of the coaches. The caption reads: “SNOOP. REBA. NIALL. BUBLÉ. Let us know which team you will be on this fall!”

Fans have been eager to share their thoughts in the comment section, and the overwhelming majority of people appear to be Team Niall and are anticipating a win for the third time! Even The Voice host Carson Daly reacted. “My guy @niallhoran is back!” he commented. Other reactions to the casting include: “Y’all already know Team Niall is going to step up,” “Obviously Team Niall,” and “TEAM NIALL SLAY FOR A THIRD SEASON YOU BET!”

There is also speculation that Horan’s inclusion on the show will coincide with the release of new music. “THIS MEANS NEW NIALL MUSIC IS COMING,” a fan wrote. Horan has released three solo albums, with his last titled The Show in 2023.

In a 2023 interview with People, Niall Horan discussed his time as a coach on The Voice and how he had bonded with fellow coach Blake Shelton. “I’m going to miss him. He is not one of those famous friends, in my eyes. I think if I had met him outside of The Voice, I would have probably been friends with him anyway,” Horan said. “Weirdly enough, we’ve got a lot in common, we’re quite similar people. Though not in dress sense.”

In 2010, at 16 years old, Horan auditioned for The X Factor. What followed was his meteoric rise to success with the boy band One Direction. His time on the show has also given him a unique advantage, as he can put himself in the contestants’ shoes.

“[The X Factor] did come into play more than I thought it would, or more than I thought I would allow it to,” he told People. “Being there with the contestants every week, picking songs, keeping them calm — because it’s crazy how talented these young kids are, and with that level of talent comes a level of seriousness, and I was always trying to get them to enjoy it.”

He continued: “Having come from a show like that, it felt normal to be doing The Voice to me. If I was just a singer and I hadn’t been on a show like that before, I’m sure I would have been a bit more deer in the headlights, but I knew what I was getting myself into, and I think it was helpful.”

The Voice Season 28 will premiere in Fall 2025.
