SHOPPERS have been issued an urgent warning after shards of plastic have been found inside frozen products distributed across the country.

Over 20 ice cream and frozen yogurt products have been recalled over fears consumers could cut their mouths and suffer other health issues as a result.

Wells Enterprises, also known as Wells Dairy, announced the recall late last month.

The Iowa-based company revealed in the voluntary action that 22 products distributed to over 100 sites across the country are affected.

Only 3-gallon tubs of ice cream and frozen yogurt are being pulled from shelves due to “potential contamination with plastic foreign material”.

It is reported to be hard plastic that as well as cuts to the mouth, could also cause dental issues and choking.

Per FDA guidelines, the recall is categorized as Class II meaning there is a low risk of serious health affects but there may be a temporary impact on health.

All 103 distribution centers that received deliveries of the potentially contaminated products were notified of the health risk and recall via email.

These centers include several restaurants, cafes, and other eateries.

The 22 contaminated products including a mixture of flavors and brands including Keith Valley, Ellington Farms, and Gordon Choice.

Out of all contaminated products, the ‘Vanilla Frozen Yogurt’ is the most affected with over 5,250 tubs recalled.

Consumers must be aware that the affected items all have the use by dates of between March and October 2026.

A full list of the recalled products can be found below.

At the time of writing, no illnesses or health risks have been reported by consumers as a result of the reported plastic contamination.

Anyone who has bought any of the recalled products should not consume them.

They must be either returned to where they were bought for a refund or thrown away.

All sites that accepted deliveries of the affected items must remove them from circulation.

If you fear you have ingested a piece of plastic and are in discomfort, you must contact your medical provider.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Wells Enterprises for comment.

It comes after a popular breakfast item has also been recalled for the same reason with over 34,000 cases sold of the contaminated product.

The plastic pieces hidden inside the Lamb Weston products could be as large as 8mm.

The company voluntarily launched the recall on April 19, 2025, and it remains active, the Food and Drug Administration confirmed.

Meanwhile, a snack sold at Walmart and Target has been pulled from shelves after pieces of wood was found inside.
