‘Blue Bloods’ Star Abigail Hawk Returns to CBS in New Law Enforcement Role: ‘My Post-Baker Era’

Detective Baker has returned to her roots … kind of! Abigail Hawk stepped into a new role on CBS, one that had Blue Bloods fans seeing double.

The actress, 43, played IRS Special Agent Carolyn Eugene in an episode of the FBI TV series titled “Devoted” on May 13. Her character was responsible for investigating the death of two IRS agents after a stabbing in a bakery. She was the head of the New York IRS field office. Her character arrived at the scene and described learning of the men’s deaths as a “hell of a call to get.”

On Instagram, Abigail reflected on the role and drew similarities to her time on Blue Bloods playing Abigail Baker from 2010 to 2024.

“Tonight at 8 pm ET on @cbstv! A fantastic new episode of @fbicbs awaits you! Meet Carolyn Eugene, SAC of the IRS NY Field Office. Math nerd with a heart of gold! I think you’ll like her!” she captioned a set of photos from the show’s set while dressed in costume.

“Some humble thanks are in order: @kim_miscia and @bethbinnyc – thank you for bringing me in for this in my post- Baker era! @redrockentertainment and @buchwaldtalent – best team on the planet! Thank you for being in my corner. @tara_westwood – thanks for being my self-tape queen! @siobhanbyrne_oconnor – thank you for being a constant encourager. Jim Nuciforo – who is not on the ‘gram, but who I must thank for teaching me how to correctly pronounce ‘SAC,’” she added.

“To all friends new (oh hi @drlawyercop @johncudia @benragart @thecarlosbernard @zeekozaki @mperegrym Aria and many others!) and old (looking at you @lieutenant_harbo @neminemnem @nicole.feder1): thanks for welcoming me to your set. I loved every moment. Great energy; great team; great fun!” the caption concluded.

Abigail and the rest of her Blue Bloods castmates said farewell to their characters in the December 2024 series finale of the show. Portraying Baker for so many years was rewarding for Abigail, who shared the screen with Tom Selleck and company.

“I just love that Baker was never afraid of her words and decisions,” she told Closer in December 2024. “She was fearless but respectful. She knew her value and worth, and I think, as women, that’s something we all struggle with. I will probably have impostor syndrome for the rest of my life!”

Tom, 80, became a mentor to Abigail during their time together on the show.

“My favorite acting advice he gave me was to always have a secret,” she recalled. “I really love that because you can apply it universally. It makes your character interesting — and you don’t have to tell anybody the secret. The camera misses absolutely nothing, but when you have a secret, there is a little sparkle behind your eyes.”

She also reflected on filming her last scene as Baker on the Blue Bloods set.

“I poured so much of myself into her,” Abigail said. “I hope to carry her into situations where I am unsure of myself and have her confidence as I keep moving forward. All you can do is put one foot in front of the other.”
