Following the completion of the game that eliminated the defending champions, a joyous celebration took place on Friday night outside Madison Square Garden. Fans of the Knicks gathered around and jeered at the Celtics’ bus as it tried to depart.

After the Knicks secured a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 21 years by defeating the defending champions 119-81 in Game 6, thousands of supporters flooded 7th Avenue to revel in the historic win, causing a temporary closure of the street.

In a video posted to X, Knicks fans can be heard screaming “bye-bye” and “f–k Boston” as the bus slowly makes its way down 33rd Street.

Even renowned Knicks enthusiast Spike Lee reportedly leaned out of a car window to partake in the festive atmosphere after the game. Another loyal fan, Timothée Chalamet, was also surrounded by supporters as he left the venue.

Other videos on social media showed shirtless fans climbing light poles, with some climbing on top of a taxi kiosk as hundreds of people recorded the jubilant celebration on their cell phones.

Another fan lit a Celtics jacket on fire and held it over his head. At least one fan also likened the frenzied scene to a concert riot.

“We saw bras flying,” a fan who identified himself as Sjthedonn from The Bronx told reporters from The Post.

“Everybody was pretty much celebrating the victory, and then when it was time to leave, and people got tired, the crowd got so big that everybody was squishing each other.”

The Knicks now face the Pacers with a spot in the NBA Finals riding on the line, and they are the favorites to advance.
