MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 26-year-old Reddick man died after the sedan he was driving near McIntosh crashed into a tree on Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 5:38 p.m. on NW 219th Street Road, east of NW 51st Court, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the sedan was traveling west on NW 219th Street Road when it failed to maintain its lane while negotiating a curve to the right, veering to the left. The sedan rotated clockwise and left the roadway onto the south shoulder, where its driver door struck a standing tree, the report states.

The sedan rotated counter clockwise and came to final rest on the shoulder, facing a southeasterly direction, FHP said. Troopers believe the driver was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m., according to the report.
