Madonna debuts brunette hair in tribute to her late mother

Madonna is trying out an entirely new look.

Sunday marked the return of Madonna’s brunette hair, a color she hadn’t sported in years. This change was a touching tribute to her late mother, Madonna Louise, who lost her battle with breast cancer back in 1963.

Madonna, who was just five when she lost her mom, wrote over a selfie on her Instagram Story, “I missed my Mother so I channeled her……….”

Sporting voluminous, bouncy curls that are likely a wig, the musician then shared a series of close-up shots on her Instagram Stories. She paired the hairdo with a light shimmery eyeshadow and a coral-colored liptick.

It seems the last time Madonna, 66, traded her signature blond hair for brown was in 2013 at the Met Gala, where she hit the red carpet with short bangs and straight shoulder-length locks.

Before that, the mother of six dyed her tresses dark brown in the early 2000s.

She opened up about her mother’s death in the Sky documentary “Becoming Madonna,” which was released in December.

“What happened, you know, when I was [5] years old, it was just the greatest event of my life,” the singer reflected. “It was like a part of my heart was ripped out.”

She continued, “I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother’s death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on. It was too much for a child I think.”

Madonna recently celebrated Mother’s Day with some of her kids, including her eldest child, Lourdes Leon, 28.

“I spent Mother’s Day weekend with 5 of my 6 children. Sunshine laughter, horseback riding. soccer, and the sound of music!” Madonna captioned a family photo, with the legendary artist in a polka dot dress.

“The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another .🩷🌸🫂 When you raise children to be unique and opinionated, you also create your own debate team !!!”
