VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Over a dozen people were arrested at “Welcome to Rockville” in Volusia County over the weekend, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies told News 6 that the VSO made 13 arrests, consisting of three felonies and 10 misdemeanors.

Furthermore, the sheriff’s office noted that a few of the arrests involved undocumented immigrants, two of whom also face charges locally.

The U.S. Border Patrol also told News 6 that it participated in these arrests.

“As part of a multi-agency security effort, U.S. Border Patrol agents provided support to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office at the ‘Welcome to Rockville’ event in Daytona Beach, Florida,” a USBP spokesperson wrote. “While assisting VCSO, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested four illegal aliens. The illegal aliens were taken into federal custody and will be deported.”

Per the VSO, arrests made during the festival were as follows:


  • Theresa Christofore, 36 (Deland) — Possession of hallucinogens with intent to sell

“Units working the Welcome to Rockville Event were alerted to a delivery of suspected narcotics at one of the on-site bars. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of approximately 1 pound of psychedelic mushrooms and the arrest of an adult female bartender.”

  • Summer Hightower, 30 (Anniston, AL) — Disorderly conduct

“During a narcotics investigation, an adult female patron at the bar began shouting at the bar manager as she was providing information to investigating deputies. Deputies contacted the female a short distance away and she began causing a disturbance by shouting and arguing with deputies. The female’s behavior disrupted the peace and tranquility of other patrons within the camping area. The female was arrested for Disorderly conduct and transported to VCBJ.”

  • Joseph Clarke, 64 (Deerfield Beach) — Possession/sale of counterfeit items

“An adult male was observed selling counterfeit Rockville T-Shirts in an area immediately adjacent to the event venue. After confirming the items were counterfeit the male was arrested and transported to VCBJ for Sale / Possession of Counterfeit Items (Misd).”

  • John Madison, 50 (Miami Beach) — Selling alcoholic beverages without a license/permit

“Subject was observed by deputies conducting sales of alcoholic beverages from a wagon along the access road to Daytona International Speedway during the Welcome to Rockville Event. Subject was contacted and it was determined he did not have a license or permit to sell alcoholic beverages.”

  • Stuart Anderson-Barnes, 34 (Charlotte, NC) — Selling alcohol without a license/permit

“Subject was observed selling alcoholic beverages without a license. An undercover deputy made a controlled purchase of an alcoholic beverage, further investigation revealed the subject did not possess a license or permit to sell alcohol.”

  • Steven Wendt, 38 (Williamston, NJ) — Trespass after warning

“A male subject attending Welcome to Rockville was causing a disturbance. Event Security requested law enforcement assistance. Upon deputies’ arrival Event Security notified the subject he was trespassed from the property and needed to leave immediately. The subject refused to leave and resisted arrest when deputies attempted to take him into custody. Subject arrested for Trespass After Warning and Resisting Arrest w/o Violence. Transported to VCBJ.”

“2 Adult males were arrested for Felony Possession / Sale of Counterfeit Items. They were in possession of over 100 counterfeit Welcome to Rockville T-Shirts. One subject was arrested the day before and was out on bond for his previous misdemeanor charge of selling counterfeit t-shirts.”

  • Carlos Barrientos Rivera, 28 (Guatemala) — Resisting without violence / CBP detainer

  • Wendy Sinai Salazar, 38 (Guatemala) — Resisting without violence / CBP detainer

“3 Subjects were contacted in the parking area of the venue as they were operating sausage carts, not associated with the event. The subjects were all determined to be within the United States illegally. One male and one female provided false information to deputies and were arrested on local charges and CBP placed an immigration detainer on them. The other female had no local charges and was taken into custody by CBP.”
