Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to guide Tottenham to their first trophy since 2008 as his side takes on Manchester United in the final of the Europa League on Thursday morning (AEST).
The Australian manager took charge of the Premier League side in 2023, finishing 5th in his first season. But this season has been poor in comparison, with Spurs 17th in the table with one game left to play.

The Europa League campaign has been a rare positive for Tottenham, who will be taking on Manchester United, who are also having a poor season and are currently 16th.

How can I watch the Europa League final? What channel is it on?

The final kicks off at 5am AEST in Bilbao, Spain, and will be the third final in the competition to feature two English teams.

It will be broadcast on 9Gem and 9Gem HD, starting at 4.30am AEST on Thursday.

How did Tottenham get to the Europa League final?

Spurs finished fourth in the Europa League group stage — one spot below Manchester United — and went on to defeat Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt and Norway’s FK Bodø/Glimt in the knockout stages.

United saw off Real Sociedad, Lyon and Athletic Bilbao as they made their way to the final.

What will happen to Postecoglou?

Tottenham’s league performances have placed pressure on Postecoglou, but Micky Hazard, part of the club’s 1981-82 FA Cup final-winning team, said the club should stick with the Australian if the side win.
He told Reuters: “I think it’s important that they get out of that cycle, win or bust, win or bust, win or bust.”
“Look through history and you look at Alex Ferguson. He took five or six years to win things with Manchester United [Ferguson’s first trophy, the 1990 FA Cup, came three-and-a-half years after he joined the club] and then he won things non-stop. Success — it’s not overnight, and the longer it takes to get it, the more solid the foundation is.
“Alex Ferguson built on his first five years of not winning a trophy by winning everything for the next 20 years.

“Will Ange stay? I’m of the belief that winning a trophy is the most amazing thing in football. I always say that if someone wins a trophy they have earned the right to have another crack.”
