Sylacauga police searching for suspect in fatal shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Sylacauga police are searching for a suspect who is allegedly connected to a fatal shooting that occurred May 11.

Police received reports of a shooting around 4:50 p.m. around E Fifth Street in Sylacauga. A few minutes later, authorities received calls of a vehicle being shot into on Curran Street off N Broadway Avenue.

Police found two people shot. Both victims were transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center. Christopher Keith was transported to UAB Hospital and later died from his injuries.

It was determined that the shooting occurred at the intersection of N Louisville Avenue and E Fifth Street. Police are seeking assistance in locating the suspect. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 334-215-7867.
