Dodgers' Kike Hernandez relives time he pooped pants during 2020 playoffs

During a recent podcast, Dodgers outfielder Kiké Hernandez shared a humorous incident from a playoff baseball game where he unknowingly experienced a bowel movement.

Herndandez was appearing on the “Cold as Balls” podcast hosted by comedian Kevin Hart when the story came up, leading the Dodger to explain that he had been taking an antibiotic for a cracked root canal, which had a side effect of diarrhea.

“This point I’m in the game as a designated hitter, getting ready to go in the game,” Hernandez said. “Dustin May gets a strike out and I go ‘F–k yeah!’ and when I did that, I thought I farted. So I go up the stairs to go hit and it’s kind of a different walk than usual…and I’m like alright, gotta try to focus, lock it in and get into it.

“I struck out in three pitches and let me tell you, I’ve never been happier to strike out in my life.”

Though Hernandez didn’t mention the specific game during the podcast appearance, he did provide more detail in a social media video posted by the Red Sox in 2023, where he also told the story.

The incident in question occurred during the 2020 playoffs while he was playing for the Dodgers, though he didn’t reveal what round it had occurred in.

Hernandez has played in the major leagues for 12 seasons, spending nine of them with the Dodgers.

His MLB stops have also included the Red Sox, Astros and Marlins.

He was part of two World Champion Dodger squads, winning a World Series title with Los Angeles in 2020 during the COVID season and again in 2024 when he was part of the championship team that was able to celebrate a title after defeating the Yankees.

This season, he has hit .229 with the Dodgers.
