A Nigerian man publicly challenged a lawyer on social media, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and offering ₦500,000 if he could prove he graduated with a first-class degree in Law (LLB).

The incident unfolded on X (formerly Twitter), where user @joejonahni claimed the lawyer was dishonest, writing:

“I am putting out ₦500,000 for this lawyer if he can prove he has a first class in LLB. Lies on this app are too much. Everyone should tag him to collect free money.”

Despite being informed by other users that the lawyer had indeed graduated with first class, @joejonahni remained skeptical and demanded proof.

In a follow-up post, he wrote: “Just simple academic verification. His full names, what he graduated with, year of graduation, number of people with First class in same year. We will publish our findings here on X.”

After some back and forth, the lawyer, @egi_nupe___, eventually provided evidence of his first-class degree.

@joejonahni then congratulated him, posting: “Congratulations @egi_nupe___. This should be an encouragement to all our undergraduates. First class will always be a big deal, and people/firms will hold those who attain such a feat in high esteem.”

In a later update, @egi_nupe___ confirmed that he received the ₦500,000 reward.
