“We’re incredibly inspired by the response to Iyanu and the connection it has made with audiences,” David Steward II, CEO of Lion Forge Entertainment commented in a recent press release. “The opportunity to expand this world with a second season and two feature films is a testament to the power of meaningful storytelling and innovative creative collaboration. We’re grateful for the continued support of our partners at Cartoon Network and Max, and it’s been a lot of fun working with Roye to bring Iyanu to life and build the franchise.”

Inspired by Nigerian mythology and adapted from the acclaimed graphic novel series Iyanu: Child of Wonder by Roye Okupe, the show follows a teenage orphan who discovers she has divine powers and a destiny far greater than she ever imagined, one that involves saving the ancient kingdom of Yorubaland.

For author Okupe, who also serves as series creator, executive producer, and showrunner, this moment is deeply personal. “This is a huge win for Iyanu, Lion Forge Entertainment and YouNeek Studios fans around the world,” he said in the same release.

“The support for our show has been nothing short of humbling—and because of that incredible response, we now get to bring the next chapter of Iyanu’s story to life. I’m thrilled to continue expanding the world of Iyanu and the YouNeek YouNiverse, and to share this journey with audiences across the globe. This is just the beginning.”

Season two will deliver 10 new episodes filled with conflict, magic, and revelations. Iyanu must continue mastering her powers as she’s caught in the middle of a war between Elu and the People of the Deep, while ancient artifacts reemerge and long-buried secrets from the Age of Wonders resurface.

But that’s not all. The first of two planned feature films, entitled The Age of Wonders, is set to arrive later this year. The planned films will take viewers 500 years before Iyanu’s time, showcasing a vibrant Yorubaland at the peak of its magical prowess, threatened by the embodiment of the seven deadly sins.

Celebrated for its vibrant animation, authentic portrayal of African mythology, and empowering storytelling, Iyanu is a shining example of how culturally grounded narratives can resonate globally. With the second season set to premiere in 2026 and more stories on the horizon, Iyanu is well on its way to becoming a defining franchise in modern animation.

And we are truly excited to just let the YouNiverse continue to expand!
