RHOC Star Heather Dubrow Claps Back at Donation Claims After Daughter Kat Gets Into Yale

There’s been much talk about celebrities and other ultra-rich parents paying to get their kids into coveted Ivy League schools. Now, Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow and her husband, Terry, have been accused of this. Naturally, Heather is denying the claims. This comes after she was accused of making a scene at an airport recently. 

Heather, 56, recently celebrated that her daughter, Katarina, 18, had been accepted into Yale. While most of the comments were congratulatory, at least one person replied, “How big was the donation?” Heather responded that there was no donation.

The RHOC star attended Nancy Davis’ 32nd Annual Race to Erase MS Gala, and US Weekly caught up with her for a brief interview. In it, they asked about the donation claims. “Oh God, listen — that ship sailed a long time ago,” Heather responded. “Even if I wanted to pay, that’s not a thing.”

Heather went on, “I’ll tell you a quick story. When the twins got into kindergarten, that process of private school kindergarten was so ridiculous to me and upsetting, and it gave me so much anxiety [that I said], ‘I’m never doing this again.’ So I told all the kids when they got to high school, ‘If you want choices, study, and here’s your guidance counselor, and do your best. I’ll be your cheerleader, but I’m not fighting with you. This is your life. It’s up to you.’ And that’s exactly what we’ve done.”

As many will remember, the college admissions scandal broke in 2019, and it involved more than 30 parents who used various ways to get their children into prestigious colleges. This is one of the many reasons people are often skeptical about the children of celebrities getting into Ivy League schools. 

Heather added, “I am happy to say I had nothing to do with it. Kat did this all on her own, as did my other kids. You want your kids to be where they belong, not at the place they don’t belong, because they’re not going to be successful.”

Despite the drama surrounding their daughter’s admission to Yale, Heather and Terry have much to be proud of.
