Emergency crews will today conduct a land, water and aerial search in a patch of bushland for missing teenager Pheobe Bishop.

Queensland’s State Emergency Service crews are also about to start combing through the bushland, while police divers will conduct a search of the park’s waterways.

Last night, police said they had made a breakthrough after they discovered an item of potential interest in the national park.

Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson said yesterday the police diving squad had helped with the search of a creek.

“Police have subsequently been conducting some searches of the Good Night Scrub National Park in the hopes of finding some evidence in relation to her disappearance,” he said.

“There are no specific persons of interest, however, police are following up all avenues of enquiry.”

Police have not confirmed if the item that was found is connected to Phoebe’s case.

The homicide squad is assisting in the search, but police say they are still holding out hope that Bishop is alive.

Pheobe was last seen on Thursday, May 15, by her housemates, who say they dropped her off outside the Bundaberg Regional Airport at 8.30am.

She had a ticket to fly to Western Australia, via Brisbane, to visit her boyfriend, but she never entered the terminal or checked in for her flight.

There has been no confirmed sighting of Pheobe or her luggage since then.
