VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 16-year-old boy’s head was grazed in one of two shootings investigated overnight by Volusia County deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

The shootings were reported between 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said on social media.

The first shooting allegedly took place just before midnight at a house on Kings Ridge Terrace in Deltona, where the resident said he was outside of his home when a subject approached him and pulled a gun on him, the post states.

The resident retreated back into the house and locked the door, at which point a second subject fired at least one shot at the residence from the street before both of the subjects left the scene, the sheriff’s office said. No one was injured in the first shooting, according to the post.

Next, a passing driver in the 1700 block of North Woodland Boulevard near DeLand reported hearing several gunshots around 12:30 a.m., as well as that the glass of his vehicle’s rear window had shattered, the post states.

A 16-year-old passenger in the back seat of the vehicle found that he had a graze wound to his head and was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with minor injuries at last check, according to the sheriff’s office. Preliminary information indicated the shooting in this case occurred between two people on foot in a parking lot located at 1757 North Woodland Boulevard, deputies said.

No further information was immediately available.

Detectives are pursuing leads in both cases, and updates will be provided as the investigations allow.
