Duck Dynasty Star Phil Robertson’s family shared the news through various social media posts on Sunday, May 25, months after they revealed in December 2024 that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phil’s son, Jase Robertson, posted a tribute on X, writing, “My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!” as Sadie Robertson Huff, Phil’s granddaughter, marked his death with an Instagram post featuring a series of photos of their famous family throughout the years.

On their own joint Instagram post, Phil’s son Willie Robertson and his wife Korie Robertson wrote, “We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord.”

“Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life,” the pair continued, in part, adding, “We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We’re having a private service for now, but we’ll share details soon about a public celebration of his life.”

The Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast’s December 6 edition was the first to reveal Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Jase disclosed at the time that his father was in the “early stages” of the disease.

His father’s Alzheimer’s disease “accelerated, and it’s causing problems with his entire body,” he added, adding that he just isn’t doing well. He’s  really  struggling.”

Phil Alexander Robertson was born on April 24, 1946 was an American professional hunter, businessman (Duck Commander company), and reality television star on the popular television series Duck Dynasty. Also, he featured on the television show Duck Commander, a hunting program on the Outdoor Channel, and served as patriarch of the Duck Dynasty Robertson family.

He played football while attending Louisiana Tech University. After earning a master’s degree in education, he taught for a while.

Robertson was the subject of controversy after a 2013 interview he did with GQ magazine, where he said that homosexual behavior was sinful.

As a result, A&E suspended him from Duck Dynasty. It made him face a strong backlash from his supporters, though A&E lifted the suspension after nine days.

A biographical film on the early life of Robertson, The Blind, was released in theaters in September 2023.

He died on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 79.
