Storm Team 3: Scattered storms and isolated severe storms this week

Memorial Day started out mainly dry and warm. Afternoon highs were in the upper 80s to lower 90s – before scattered showers and storms developed.

A severe storm in Chatham County produced some tree damage around Port Wentworth. One other severe storm developed in Long County, but no damage was reported. However, there were reports of large hail near Ludowici.

More storms are expected to develop on Tuesday afternoon and especially in the evening. There is a low-end risk for a few storms becoming strong to severe. Damaging wind gusts and hail are possible.

We’ll have a similar pattern on Wednesday with scattered storms with isolated severe storms.

Storm chances remain elevated for Thursday and Friday. Organized severe weather is not expected at this time. Though with ample moisture and afternoon highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s, more isolated severe storms are possible.

Friday will be breezy and gusty even without severe storms as a frontal boundary moves through.

The weekend will be mainly dry and seasonably warm in the mid to upper 80s for afternoon high temperatures.
