SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Saturday, the Georgia Economic Empowerment Summit was held at Savannah Technical College. The theme was “Moving Georgia Forward.”

State Representative Carol Gillard hosted the free event. People could get information on the local economy and had a chance to explore new job opportunities in the area.

There was a panel featuring professionals from the film and music industries and health fields. There were also discussions on services for military veterans.

The event also included live entertainment and a complimentary breakfast and lunch for all attendees.

Gillard told this was all about empowering people. “People traditionally don’t get the information. We’re number two in feature film and so having these great major people that are going to be here today to give people a chance to get into the music and film industry…people don’t generally get the information. They’re not at the table so we’re bringing the table to them.”
