STATESBORO, Ga. () — The Bulloch County community is still shaken by the loss of a 9-year-old girl killed by her father in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday night.

Saturday, that community rallied for the child’s family. A local business donated profits from their end-of-school bash. Twenty percent of the purchases went to Emily’s family. On Thursday, Texas Roadhouse plans to do a similar fundraiser.

Taylor Bunch, the owner of Taylor’s Sunset Tanning says she’s close with the family and wanted to do something to help ease their pain. “This community is tight knit. We all help each other out. There’s a bunch of small businesses here, too, and we like to give to the schools and we do sponsorships all the time. And I feel like this community just gives back a lot.”

At Saturday’s fundraiser they also made bracelets ahead of Emily’s candlelight vigil. That’s happening Sunday in Brooklet. they tell that making bracelets was one of Emily’s favorite things to do. They’ll pass them out during the memoriam.
