Does Maggie Lose Her Baby in ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’? Spoilers Amid Shocking Season 3 Twist

In Sullivan’s Crossing season 2, pregnant Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan) decided she would raise her first child on her own after splitting from ex-fiancé Andrew Mathews (Allan Hawco) for good. The season nearly ended on a happy note, with Maggie and Cal Jones (Chad Michael Murray) finally getting together and Harry “Sully” Sullivan (Scott Patterson) saving Sullivan’s Crossing from being auctioned off. However, in true TV drama fashion, the season ended on a cliffhanger, with a massive diner fire that put Sully’s life — and, ultimately, the life of Maggie’s unborn baby — at risk. The season 3 premiere on May 14, 2025, revealed exactly what happened with Maggie’s pregnancy.

Does Maggie Lose Her Baby in ‘Sullivan’s Crossing’?

The season 3 premiere featured a few initial hints at Maggie losing her baby, including an interaction with a young boy at the Crossing. Maggie hesitated and looked sad when the boy dropped his fire truck toy, although this could have been a hint at Sully’s possible death on the night of the fire. However, Sully later appeared in a scene with Maggie in her room, debunking theories about his death. She also seemed sad while she was folding baby clothes, which further suggested that she had experienced a miscarriage.

Maggie’s miscarriage was confirmed in a later flashback scene. She was shown in a hospital bed on the night of the diner fire, with Cal, Edna (Andrea Menard) and Frank (Tom Jackson) telling her that she had lost the baby after the extreme stress of the night took a toll on her body.

Though Maggie’s miscarriage happened off-screen, viewers saw her experience the grief in the first few episodes and push Cal away as a result. She struggled to be intimate with him at first, and though they were able to overcome it in episode 2, Maggie was still shown as having moments where she struggled with her loss.

“This topic is not talked about as much as it should be,” she said. “It affects so many different people in many capacities — whether it’s happened to you or someone you love. I was definitely nervous to portray it respectfully and in the right capacity to be honest and help people feel seen.”

Morgan also gushed about Chad being a supportive scene partner.

“We have such a wonderful cast and crew who are so supportive and respectful during scenes like this,” she continued. “As Maggie is held in a different way, I feel very held by Chad and everyone on set, just making sure everybody is quiet and calm. Everyone was aware that these were highly emotional scenes Chad and I were doing, and I felt very allowed to just go full in on it.”

As for what’s to come between Maggie and Cal, Morgan said, “There are always going to be things that come up that [Maggie and Cal] haven’t accounted for and not expecting. I think this will be a testament to their relationship of how they handle everything and how they move forward in season 3.”
