James Conyers was found guilty of killing 28-year-old Terrill Trumble and stealing his Xbox. Police say they were friends.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man has been sentenced to life in prison on charges of second-degree murder and dealing in stolen property after he killed a man and stole his Xbox, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He had already previously robbed the victim and stolen his previous Xbox.
James Conyers, 45, was arrested for the 2023 murder of 28-year-old Terrill Trumble after trying to sell items stolen from Trumble’s apartment on the day of his death. These included a shotgun, a laptop and an Xbox.
Trumble was found dead in his apartment when a friend came to check on him. The friend found Trumble on the bathroom floor in a pool of blood. He also noticed that the Xbox was missing, which he told police.
Police determined both Xboxes were sold to the same store. Police were able to track one of the devices after it was sold and trace it back to Conyers.
It was determined that Conyers had been at Trumble’s apartment earlier in the day, and he took the new Xbox to the store less than nine hours after he left the crime scene. Police used this information to determine probable cause to arrest Conyers for murder.
Conyers was found guilty at his trial April 30, and was sentenced Monday.
