PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — An Urbana man faces up to 30 years in prison after being charged for allegedly having drugs, money, and a semi-automatic handgun in his car.

Saveiontae A. Johnson, 18, appeared in McLean County Circuit Court on Monday, charged with several counts including armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and multiple drug counts, according to court records.

He was ordered held pending the outcome of his case and will next appear in court on June 20 to be arraigned on the charges. If convicted of all counts, he faces at least 15 years and possibly up to 30 years behind bars, according to court records.

Just before 6 p.m. Friday, officers with the Bloomington Police Department stopped the vehicle Johnson was in because it had darkly tinted windows, said Bryce Janssen, a departmental spokesman.

During the stop, officers smelled raw cannabis, prompting them to search the car. Inside, they allegedly found $10,000 in cash, 41 grams of raw cannabis, as well as a semi-automatic handgun, said Janssen.
