Meghan Markle reveals the professional beauty advice she refused on ‘Suits’ set

Meghan Markle was advised to wear wigs on “Suits,” but she chose to sport her actual hair.

The topic came up on the latest episode of her podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” during a conversation with Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles.

“She’s on a stage with hot lights, and she wears wigs a lot,” Knowles, a former hairdresser, said of her superstar daughter, who launched her Cécred haircare line last year.

“And she has managed to keep her hair beautiful and healthy, and that’s not an easy task when you’re in show business.”

Markle, who marveled at the “testament,” then shared her own haircare experience as a working actress.

“I was on ‘Suits’ for seven years, and I remember so many other actresses — especially if you’re in that grind — they said, ‘You are going to fry your hair.’ Everyone was recommending that I should start wearing wigs,” explained the mother of two, who married Prince Harry in May 2018.

Though the Duchess of Sussex, 43, “never ended up doing it,” she might have considered it had she been “in that industry longer.”

She admitted, “I understand why you need to protect your hair in that way,” prompting Knowles, 71, to add, “Yeah, ’cause who wants to spray and tease and do all those things to your hair every day?”

Markle revealed on an April episode of her podcast that she tried — and failed — to dye her own hair at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I thought, ‘I’m going to look just like she does on the box,’” the renegade royal thought to herself.

Instead, she got “this very inky, almost Elvira-esque black hair,” so she immediately reached out to her wedding-day hairstylist-turned-friend, Serge Normant, who suggested she “see Kadi [Lee],” who has since become her go-to hair colorist and close pal.

Lee, who was Markle’s podcast guest for the episode, came over and helped restore her client’s tresses to their signature color.

“I mean, we were masked and all the things,” Markle made sure to note. “It was such an interesting time, but I remember that day so well.”
