The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. along West 21st Street.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man in his 30s was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday night after being shot in the head in Jacksonville’s Moncrief area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
JSO Sgt. Mitlyng told First Coast News the sheriff’s office received a ShotSpotter notification around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, alerting them to shots fired in the 1300 block of West 21st Street.
A short time later, Mitlyng said JSO received a call about a person shot at the same location.
When officers arrived on scene, the man who was shot was found suffering from a single gunshot wound to his head, according to Mitlyng. He was then taken to a local hospital.
Mitlyng said detectives canvassed the area, but did not find any witnesses of the shooting.
