Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has hit out at a pub goer after they complained about the price of his steak pie. The Clarkson’s Farm star, known for his roles on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and The Grand Tour, opened his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, last summer. Described as a “proper English pub”, it focuses on using only British farmed produce for its menu. The watering hole also serves Clarkson’s own Hawkstone beers, ales, and ciders, as well as wines and spirits sourced from UK producers. However, one unhappy punter complained about the price of one of the dishes on the pub’s menu.

A steak pie at the restaurant reportedly costs £24, which is more than the casserole listed on the same menu, which costs £21. One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, lashed out at Clarkson over the expensive meal.

They said, “@JeremyClarkson wanted an affordable pub for customers. £24 for a pie and veg is a bit much.” However, Jeremy didn’t hold back and replied, “Have you seen beef prices right now? If you could make it for less, I’ll give you a job.”

He also told the user who made the complaint, “You are now banned from the pub.” Some users on X agreed with the motor journalist, with one saying, “Mate, that’s quite reasonable in this region!!”

Another chimed in, “£24 for a decent pub meal is reasonable these days. Having eaten at the Farmers Dog, the food is more than decent & would love to go back again.”

However, some followers did find the price a little high. One commented, “I’m sure that pie didn’t even cost £5 to make, even with the veg.”

Clarkson defended his prices further, adding, “Most come from other farmers in the area, and we pay a premium. We are here to back British farming. If you don’t want to do that, fine. Enjoy your chlorine.”
