SARDIS, Ga. () – The City of Sardis is issuing a boil water advisory due to an water main break on Ellison Bridge Road on Thursday.

According to the city in a statement released June 5, the advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution due to the disruption in water pressure levels.

The city provided the following instructions:

  • Heat water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the container.
  • Continue heating the water for one minute once it begins to boil.
  • Remove the water from the heat source and allow to cool before use.

Any tap water used for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing baby formula or food, and drinking water for pets should be boiled under this advisory.

The advisory will remain in effect until the city has done the appropriate testing to be confident that there is no longer a public health concern.
