Olympic gold medalist Ian Thorpe has become the alleged victim of theft, according to 2GB Radio host Ben Fordham.

The five-time gold medalist attended Paddington Police Station and spoke to officers for a substantial period of time.

He has reportedly lost $150,000 in what’s understood to be an insurance-related matter.

NSW Police confirmed that a 42-year-old man had attended Paddington Police Station to report an alleged theft at 4pm on Thursday.

“Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident,” NSW Police said.

“There is no further information available at this time.”

Thorpe’s manager said the star had been talking to police about an “insurance job,” but he did not confirm if his client had been scammed nor give more details.
