A Wisconsin woman was allegedly “tired” of being put down by her husband, so she shot him dead last week during an argument, telling cops, “He called me a b— for the last time,” according to prosecutors.

“I just grabbed my gun and shot him,” Doris Winters, 61, of Milwaukee, allegedly told detectives after killing her husband, Aerion Winters, 49, on May 31. “I’m tired,” Winters said, according to her criminal complaint, which was filed Wednesday in Milwaukee County. “I know I shouldn’t have shot him, but I’m just tired.”

Winters, who lives on Milwaukee’s north side, is facing first-degree reckless homicide and use of a dangerous weapon charges for the Saturday night incident.

Cops responded to her apartment complex at 95th Street and Brown Deer Road shortly after 10 p.m. and found Winters outside the residence, with witnesses and neighbors pointing her out to police, the complaint says.

“Upon arrival, citizens who were outside the apartments pointed to a woman who was walking away,” the complaint alleges. “The citizens said she was the shooter. The officers saw the woman drop a handgun. They stopped her, took her into custody, and secured the gun she had dropped.”

Winters, while being transported to the police station, told officers, “He called me a b— for the last time and I just shot him.” She allegedly confessed to killing her husband while the two of them were arguing inside Winters’ apartment. A witness who was with them said Aerion Winters had been staying at a separate residence and the witness drove him over to Winters’ place so they could retrieve some belongings.

Once they arrived, the defendant and victim “began arguing,” and the witness tried standing between them to de-escalate the situation, according to prosecutors.

“The defendant picked up a handgun from near a table in the living room, racked the slide, and commented that it was loaded,” the complaint says. “The victim walked upstairs and spoke briefly to the defendant’s mother, then came back downstairs. The defendant told him not to talk to her mother, and the victim responded by calling the defendant a ‘b—.’ That angered the defendant.”
