Kailyn Lowry, known for her role on Teen Mom, is a mother to seven children from four different relationships. Her eldest, formerly Isaac, was born in January 2010 to Kailyn and her ex, Jo Rivera. Kailyn’s other children include Lincoln (born November 2013), Lux (born August 2017), Creed (born July 2020), Rio (born November 2022), and twins Verse and Valley (born October 2023). Despite the challenges of raising a large family, Kailyn emphasizes the importance of giving each child individual attention and ensuring they feel loved and supported. And Isaac, who now goes by his middle name, Elliott, recently shared an important announcement.

‘Teen Mom’ star Kailyn Lowry’s eldest son just gave an important update to fans

Kailyn Lowry’s eldest son, formerly Isaac Rivera, is stepping into the spotlight as a confident teen approaching adulthood. At 15, the young man — who now goes by his middle name, Elliott — has publicly come out as gay and announced his new name on his mother’s podcast, Barely Famous. Elliott’s journey from reality TV to self-discovery reflects his evolving identity and desire to separate from his MTV past.

“I started going by Elliott, because at some point, I wasn’t happy with my first name,” he said on the June 6 episode of his mother’s podcast. “It just doesn’t feel like me in some way.”

In addition to revealing his name change, he came out as gay. “Happy Pride, everybody!” he said. “I’m very nervous for this episode. I’m here today to show you who I am, not who you saw on TV for 12 years of my life. It’s very important to me because I feel like growing up on TV, it’s hard to show who you really are when a camera is in front of you all the time. It’s harder to be yourself.”

Kailyn noted how proud she is of her son, as she knows it wasn’t easy for him to make this important announcement regarding his identity.

“I’m crying because this shows your strength, and I’m just really proud of you,” the Teen Mom star said. “It’s a really brave thing to do.”

Fans are praising Kailyn Lowry for supporting Elliott Rivera

Teen Mom fans are often divided regarding Kailyn Lowry’s family, especially after Javi Marroquin’s recent tearful rant about her parenting. Despite this, fans agree that Kailyn is doing an excellent job of supporting Elliott Rivera through his announcement.

On June 6, 2025, she posted a series of photos to Instagram with her son at Pride. “Couldn’t be more proud to be your mom,” she captioned the post. “Part 1 with @isaacelliottr is now live on all platforms. If you want to hear Part 2 plus some fun bonus content, head to patreon.com/kaillowry. Elliott and I couldn’t be more grateful for your support — all proceeds from this episode go directly to him.”

“Got me crying over here,” a fan commented. “You’re an amazing mother, Kail. Happy Pride.”

“I loved the interview!” another fan wrote. “Elliott is so smart and well spoken! Kail, you are the best mom! Sending so much love.”

The ‘Teen Mom’ star previously hinted at a big announcement for her son

Earlier this week, Kailyn Lowry’s ex, Javi Marroquin, took to Instagram Live to slam Kailyn. He discussed how Kailyn brought her new boyfriend, Isaac Knighton, to their son’s sporting events and claimed rumors suggest the new man is already moving in.

Kailyn took to her Instagram Stories on June 4, 2025, to address the situation. “I’m seeing the comments. I see everything that’s being posted right now, and I’m going to address it at a later time,” Kailyn said.

“But this week was dedicated to Elliott, and it’s super important to him and to our family to keep things as planned,” she continued. “And I’m not going to take this moment away from him. So, I would just love for everyone to support my son and what he has to say, and let him share his story this week. And I will address everything at a later time.”
