Kenleigh Heatwole’s first big mistake was going so public with her relationship with David Eason. Her second big mistake was defending him so vigorously online. Her third major mistake has been failing to shade Jenelle Evans properly, given the extensive material available to draw from. Heatwole has returned from a brief social media hiatus after her prank against the Teen Mom star fell flat. She’s once again throwing shade at Jenelle Evans, and it is, again, just not hitting.

Jenelle Evans and Kenleigh Heatwole should have better things to do than shade each other over David Eason. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to. On June 6, Evans took to X (formerly Twitter) to shade her soon-to-be-ex husband, noting that he’s “always” doing something “useless.” While Eason didn’t respond, his new lady love did.

Kenleigh Heatwole, whom Eason has been dating for the past year, took to X to defend her man’s honor and throw shade at Evans. She suggested that Evans doesn’t have her priorities straight because she’s planning a divorce party when she’s yet to pay vehicle or property taxes in North Carolina. It didn’t turn out to be the burn she thought it was.

The joke didn’t land

Reddit users were aghast to find that they were compelled to sort of defend Evans. Several noted that Heatwole didn’t eat with commentary about Evan’s divorce party, as celebrities are often paid to host such events. They also note that the 25-year-old North Carolina native’s burn about property taxes also reflects poorly on David Eason. After all, Half of the property taxes she is speaking about should be David Eason’s responsibility. Social media followers also pointed out that Evans’ known monetary troubles are nothing compared to Eason’s self-reported financial issues.

Eason moved out of the home he shared with his estranged wife in February 2024. He lived on a boat she had purchased briefly before moving into Heatwole’s home. Eason has long insisted he has no money and can’t pay a lawyer. Heatwole claims he is not able to finance a psychological evaluation that would allow him to see his daughter. It’s unclear whether he has a job, what he might do, or if he’s using any of that money to support himself. Regardless, his financial situation isn’t looking great.
