JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Naval Station Mayport celebrated the return of one of its ships Sunday as USS Jason Dunham and more than 300 sailors came home from an eight-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Middle East.
The U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer deployed as part of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier strike group, supporting operations against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Truman returned home earlier this week at the end of a tumultuous deployment, which was extended at the order of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Jason Dunham returned home to cheers from friends and family pier side at Naval Station Mayport Sunday morning.
