TOLONO, Ill. (WCIA) — Unity Football will be led by a new head coach this fall after being led by Scott Hamilton for the last thirty-one seasons, but he’s certainly not new to the program.

Tony Reetz will step into the role after serving on Unity’s staff for 22 years.

“One of the things that Unity has been successful is because of the stability,” said Reetz, who is also the head girls’ track and field coach. “Our administration, our school board, our community support, it’s all been stable. Now that I’m taking over it’s pretty much all the same assistants. They’ve been nothing but great to work with and they’re doing everything for me like they did for Scott and I don’t envision that changing anytime soon.”

Reetz and the other assistants came together with a decision to make in the wake of Hamilton’s retirement: ride off into the sunset with him or keep up the momentum he built. In choosing the latter, they feel the continuity and familiarity will allow the Rockets to maintain winning ways.
