Piers Morgan has hit out at Greta Thunberg in a furious rant after she said in a video she has been “kidnapped” by Israeli forces. Greta, along with a group of fellow activists, had set out to protest against’s Israel’s campaign in the Gaza Strip when the boat was stopped. Israeli forces stopped the Gaza-bound boat, named the Madleen, and detained the group, named the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, and Thunberg released a pre-recorded message telling her social media followers she had been “kidnapped”.
She added: “I urge all my friends, family and comrades to put pressure on the Swedish government to release me and the others as soon as possible.” The Israeli foreign ministry has confirmed the group activists were “unharmed” and that they were “safely” on their way to Israel.
Piers Morgan responded to her video, was shared on X, writing: “Oh shut up, @GretaThunberg – you attention-seeking narcissist. What an insult to the actual hostages in Gaza who really WERE kidnapped. This stupid stunt is all about your ego, and will make zero difference to the plight of innocent Palestinians caught up in this dreadful war.”
Over the weekend, Israel had its military would take “whatever measures necessary” to stop the Madleen reaching Gaza.
Freedom Flotilla Coalition said the Madleen was “prepared for the possibility of an Israeli attack” after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz told them to turn back, and that they would act against any attempt to breach the country’s sea blockade.
He has since said on X that he has instructed the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) “to show the flotilla passengers the video of the horrors of the October 7 massacre when they arrive at the port of Ashdod”.
He added that it was “appropriate” for the group to see what Hamas had committed “against women, the elderly, and children, and against whom Israel is fighting to defend itself”.
