Season 7 of 1000-lb Sisters sees a lot of firsts for Tammy Slaton after losing a total of 500 pounds. Fans may recall she began her weight-loss journey at 608 pounds, though her highest recorded weight was 725 pounds. After putting in the hard work, Tammy has finally been approved for skin removal surgery.

In Episode 7, Tammy undergoes surgery to begin removing excess skin on her neck, chin, arms, and lower abdomen. Before the procedure, Tammy opens up about her fears, admitting that she’s anxious about what she will look like without all the extra skin she is so used to having. For Tammy, the moment is both frightening and rewarding at the same time.

Tammy Slaton Was Nervous About Her New Body Following Skin Removal Surgery

In the latest episode of 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy Slaton is getting ready for the biggest day of her life — her skin removal surgery. After following the doctor’s orders, she was given the green light to finally get the procedure done and remove all the skin that had been hanging off her body ever since, losing a total of 500 pounds.

But, while Tammy has waited so long to be able to get the surgery, she has her hesitations. Tammy has been living with her excess skin for quite some time and has fears about her new look before going under. At a dinner with her family, her sister Amanda Halterman asks her what’s going through her mind about her procedure happening tomorrow.

“The pain,” Tammy begins. “My fear of how I’m going to look, looking at myself. I’m so used to to seeing this, and all this,” she shares pointing at her body.

Speaking privately to the cameras, Tammy expresses her true feelings about waking up and not recognizing her new self. She even reflects on how everyday routines, like showering, will feel completely different without the excess skin she’s lived with for so long.

“I really don’t know how I’m going to feel. When I wake up from surgery and look down at myself, even showering is going to be so much different. Not trying to be nasty … just trying to get in between my privates and my belly roll to clean real good, and it’s hard. But in less than a week I’m not going to have that,” Tammy admits.

Tammy Feared That She Would Be Dependent On Her Family

In Episode 7, Tammy reveals that she wanted to bring her family together before her major surgery, hoping to create a happy memory with them—just in case. As she puts it, “you never know what could go wrong on the operating table.” The surgery is expected to take several hours, and while she’s hopeful, Tammy is fully aware of the risks involved.

The morning before her surgery, Tammy admitted that she couldn’t sleep and she was extremely anxious. Thankfully, Amanda, Amy Slaton, and Chris Combs travel with her to be by her side. During her consultation, Tammy learns that the surgery will take at least seven hours. Doctors explain they’ll focus on her chin, neck, arms, and stomach, as it’s too much for the body to handle if they address everything at once.

“With the extent of excess skin that she has, Tammy falls on the more extreme range of the spectrums on patients we see having loss nearly 500 pounds,” the doctor tells the cameras.

Tammy then shares in her own confessional, that her “biggest fear is not being able to take care of herself” after her surgery.

The day of her surgery, Tammy is visibly emotional, even crying in Amanda’s arms. She gets a great pep talk from Amanda and when she is prepped and ready to go for surgery, the family comes together for a prayer. As the family waits in the lobby, they get updates from the nurse, who assures them that everything is going well. Tammy will soon look drastically different.

Tammy’s procedure aired in the latest episode, showing doctors removing several pounds of excess skin during the surgery. Thankfully, everything went well, but fans will have to wait until the next episode to see how Tammy feels in her new body.
