They’re dewing the unexpected.

Taco Bell’s iconic Baja Blast may need to make room for a new contender. Mountain Dew, known for its famous partnership with Taco Bell, is teaming up with a different fast food chain to introduce their take on the popular “dirty soda” craze.

Now, the drink fountains at KFC are dispensing a limited-edition Peaches and Cream Sweet Lightning soda, the fried-chicken chain recently announced.

This new beverage is a modernized version of the original Sweet Lightning drink, which made its debut exclusively at KFC back in 2019, but now featuring an enticing swirl of sweet vanilla cream.

Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning Peaches and Cream soda is meant to taste like a sweet honey creamsicle, perfect for summer.

In a recent announcement, KFC shared, “Embracing the trending dirty soda phenomenon embraced by younger generations, this daring new flavor will be available in restaurants starting June 9. For an added twist, customers have the option to include a vanilla cream swirl for an even more indulgent experience.”

The dirty soda trend sees people mixing fountain soda with syrups, cream and other candies, a combination popularized by Mormon communities in Utah, which gained popularity and took over TikTok thanks to “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”

This isn’t Mountain Dew’s first dirty soda collab of the year. The new drink at KFC follows Mountain Dew’s Mango Rush at Little Caesars, Baja Cabo Citrus as part of the Baja Blast lineup, and Dragon Fruit at Walmart.

The release of the Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning Peaches and Cream soda is part of KFC’s collaboration with the upcoming film “F1: The Movie” starring Brad Pitt.

KFC is also bringing back the fan-favorite Fill Ups in four different combos with options for tenders, fried chicken and KFC’s Famous Bowl for just $7.

KFC’s Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning Peaches & Cream is only available for a limited time — and fans are already excited.

“I think it sounds awesome, and I’m excited to try it!” one person shared on Reddit.

“I would definitely go out of my way to try this at least once,” another wrote.

“They’ve had sweet lightning for a while and … it’s a great flavor! It’s one of my favorites!” someone noted.
