KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Lenexa household had quite the unexpected and “wild” visitor during a recent thunderstorm, the Lenexa Police Department announced on Tuesday.

In a post shared to X by Lenexa police, animal control officers were called to a neighborhood home in response to a fluffy intruder — a bobcat kitten.

The owner of the home told police they believe the kitten had found its way inside the home to seek shelter from the storm.

According to Lenexa police, animal control officers safely removed the bobcat kitten from the home and kept it warm and safe overnight. Then, the following day, officers released it back into the wild to reunite with its mother, who had been spotted nearby.

Lenexa police said, “As Lenexa grows, encounters with suburban wildlife can become more common. We’re committed to helping our community safely co-exist with the wild animals that share our environment. Let’s work together to protect both people and wildlife in our beautiful community.”
