“American Intifada,” a term coined by the media during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was likened to the uprisings in the Palestinian territories. The riots were sparked by the acquittal of four police officers in the beating of Rodney King, a black motorist. Over six days, the city saw chaos, destruction, and a resulting death toll.

The riots were fueled by long-standing racial tensions, economic disparities, and police brutality. More than 63 people lost their lives, and thousands were injured. The damage amounted to over billion, with neighborhoods left in ruins. The unrest brought to light the deep-rooted issues of systemic racism and social injustice.
