A Texas school district released security footage last week, reportedly showing the morning high school student Austin Metcalf was fatally stabbed.

Frisco Independent School District confirmed to Fox News Digital that it has video from the April 2 incident at Kuykendall Stadium but will not be releasing the footage publicly. The district said releasing the video to the public would violate student privacy and school security.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, was fatally stabbed during a UIL District 11-5A track meet at Kuykendall Stadium. Police said that 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, a student from Centennial High School in Frisco, stabbed Metcalf in the chest during a confrontation after Anthony was seated under a tent designated for Memorial High School students.

A security camera at the event recorded several minutes leading up to the stabbing. It showed only half of Kuykendall Stadium’s field, and the camera’s distance from the incident made it hard to identify the people in the video, CBS News reports.

Metcalf and Anthony “are not identifiable in the video,” according to WFAA

Around 9:55 a.m., the video showed sudden movement under the tent, followed by what appeared to be an interaction between two people. Frisco ISD officials confirmed that the tent is where the stabbing occurred.

Minutes later, an ambulance arrived. Paramedics then tried to reach Metcalf in the bleachers but realized the stretcher won’t make it. They then carried it nto the stands by hand.

Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, previously told WFAA that he held Austin in his arms until help arrived.

“I tried to whip around as fast as I could. I looked at my brother, and I’m not going to talk about the rest. I tried to help him.”

As medics tended to Metcalf, someone placed crime scene tape and spread out a blue tarp farther up in the stands behind the tent, according to the footage. Police later say that’s where they found the knife used in the attack.

By 10:13 a.m., paramedics move the stretcher toward the gate. Numerous people were seen surrounding the stretcher as it’s loaded into the vehicle. At around 10:20 a.m., the ambulance left.

The footage continued for several minutes, showing officers inside the tent area. Prosecutors are now expected to present the video to a grand jury.

Meanwhile, Anthony remains on house arrest and has been ordered to have no contact with the Metcalf family. He’s facing a first-degree murder charge.
