Mets pitcher Tylor Megill was placed on the 15-day injured list because of a sprained right elbow in the latest blow to the team’s pitching staff.
The IL stint will be retroactive to June 15 and the team called up Justin Garza from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Megill told reporters inside the Mets’ clubhouse on Tuesday that he had felt a “pulling” in his elbow during Saturday’s start against the Rays.
The Mets pitcher also revealed that his MRI results showed “a lot of inflammation around the elbow.”

Garza, aged 31, was traded from the Giants to another team earlier in the month. His most recent time playing in the major leagues was in 2023 with the Red Sox. During that season, he played in 17 games and had a 7.36 ERA.
