'I Can't Feel Bad for Him’

On June 16, Justin Bieber finally addressed his fan’s persistent concerns. For weeks, people have flooded Bieber’s Instagram comments, telling him to seek help and heal. Bieber has largely stayed silent, but he finally told fans that he would have healed if he could. While many people have expressed sympathy and concern, others are less than impressed with this sentiment.

Justin Bieber addressed fans who told him to heal

After taking a break from social media, Bieber has been extremely active on Instagram in recent months, often posting multiple times a day. On June 16, he shared multiple posts and made a middle finger emoji the caption of many. In one post, he addressed his concerned fans directly.

“People keep telling me to heal,” he wrote. “Don’t you think if I could have fixed myself I would have already? I know I’m broken. I know I have anger issues.”

He added that working to “fix” himself has led to frustration and exhaustion.

“I tried to do the work my whole life to be like the people who told me I needed to be fixed like them,” he wrote. “And it just keeps making me more tired and more angry. The harder I try to grow. The more focused on myself I am. Jesus is the only person who keeps me wanting to make my life about others. Because honestly I’m exhausted with thinking about myself lately aren’t you?”

Many of Justin Bieber’s fans have not accepted his statement

Though many people have been hoping for Bieber to address their concerns, this was not the response they wanted.

“Tbh I think it sounds like he just keeps making excuses for why he is treating people badly,” wrote one Reddit user. “I feel for him and what he has been through but he’s a man now and with his own family. He has access potentially to the best professionals/therapy etc. Again I don’t want to be harsh but people have done more with less resources available to them.”

Some believed this response would allow Bieber to continue with his pattern of behavior.

“Don’t you think if I would have changed already if it were possible to fix myself’ is something I’ve heard from too many similarly wounded people in my life,” one person wrote. “My answer is flatly no, that’s a cop-out that allows them to do more harm to themselves and others. Excuse tf out of me if I don’t think it impossible for people to change.”

Most people could empathize with him, but still believed he needed to take responsibility for his life.

“He is a grown man with more resources than your average person could even dream of acquiring in their lifetime,” wrote one person. “His childhood was undoubtedly hard, but a lot of people experience brutal, abusive childhoods and grow up to be something softer, kinder, more empathetic. Is there a reason he can’t log off and enjoy the normalcy and protection he could provide to his own child? You know, sit in the sun and eat expensive organic fruit, read a good book, travel to secluded islands that bring him the privacy he demands?”

Still, some expressed a lack of sympathy.

“I can’t feel bad for him,” one person wrote. “Nobody’s in this world is getting more grace than famous s****y white men. Your trauma is not your fault, but it’s your obligation to get your marbles together if you’re acting like a d***. Excuse after excuse, has he ever tried to be sober or out of the cult.”

Some people suggested that Bieber could step out of the public eye if he finds it to be too much. The Instagram comments on Bieber’s post are full of people telling him to quit social media and leave Los Angeles.

Many people have defended him

While many people have criticized Bieber’s statement, others have offered him support.

“You’ve been carrying the weight of fame since you were a kid, but it’s okay to feel broken sometimes,” wrote a fan on Instagram. “The fact that you’re still here, still fighting, and still loving your family is proof of your strength. We see you, we hear you, and we love you, Justin. Stay real.”

Many fans have expressed their love of Bieber and encouraged him to stay strong.
