During a Q&A session outside the White House, a reporter from CNN asked President Donald Trump about the possibility of a US strike on Iran. Trump responded by shutting down the question and jokingly mocked the reporter as the cameras were rolling.

CNN’s White House correspondent, Alayna Treene, inquired whether the US was getting closer to targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

Trump, sporting a smirk, replied, ‘I can’t give you that information. Do you really expect me to answer that?’ in front of the gathered press.

The president proceeded to laugh the question off before offering up an impression of the reporter.

“‘Will you strike the Iranian nuclear component and what time, exactly, sir? Sir, would you strike it?'” Trump said.

‘”Would you please inform us so we can be there and watch?”‘

‘I mean, you don’t even know if I may do it. I may do it. I may not do it,’ he said of entering the conflict to side with Israel. ‘Nobody knows what I’m going to do.’

Treene, who made the Forbes 30 Under 30 media list in 2021, took to both X and Instagram to share details of the exchange – without mentioning Trump’s blistering takedown.

‘I asked POTUS whether he’s made decision on US military intervention in Iran,’ she wrote.

‘His response: “I may do it, I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do.'”

Treene, 30, also asked Trump if was ‘too late’ to make a deal with the Iranians.

‘It’s very late. You know? It’s very late to be talking,’ Trump said. ‘I don’t know – there’s a big difference between now and a week ago.

‘Nothing’s finished until it’s finished.’

As he spoke, missiles launched from Iran continued to target Israel, where the U.S. is currently coordinating planes and cruise ships to evacuate American citizen.

Trump made the remarks at a press conference to ring in the installation of two new White House flagpoles. He had eearlier clashed with Treene during another Q&A with reporters.

‘Mr. President, some of your supporters are split on the U.S. response to-‘ she asked, before Trump cut her off.

‘Who are you with?’ he asked.

‘CNN,’ Treene replied.

‘Fake news, fortunately nobody watches it,’ Trump quipped, speaking over Treene as she attempted to re-ask the question.

‘Is anybody watching CNN nowadays? I haven’t seen it in a long time,’ the president said.

‘Do you ever ask a positive question at CNN?’

He went on to discuss his supporter before bringing up how he ‘won all seven swing states’ over Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

‘Report that,’ he told Treene, who joined CNN in January 2023.

‘We won all seven out of seven, which everyone said would be almost impossible. We won by millions of votes,’ he added.

The Daily Mail has reached out to CNN for comment.
