RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — A Castlewood man was sentenced on Tuesday to serve three life sentences after he was found guilty of multiple counts of sodomy, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child.
According to the Office of Russell County Commonwealth’s Attorney Zack Stoots, Mickey Douglas Meade, Jr. was found guilty after a jury trial in February 2025.
The 38-year-old was found guilty of the following:
- 3 counts of sodomy
- 5 counts of aggravated sexual battery
- 2 counts of indecent liberties of a child
“The Commonwealth presented evidence that the defendant sexually abused a child multiple times over a four-year period and the effects this abuse had on the child,” a news release from Stoots’ office states.
Meade was sentenced to an active period of incarceration of three life sentences and an additional 10 active years of incarceration. Those sentences must run consecutively, the release states.
“We are thankful that the defendant should never be out in the community again due to the multiple life sentences the Court has imposed and won’t have the opportunity to prey on a child in our community again,” Stoots said in a statement.
Stoots commended the Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and the Care Center of Southwest Virginia for their roles in the investigation.
