Katy Perry had to step in to clear up rumors about Orlando Bloom and Selena Gomez. Here’s what she said after pictures of them surfaced.
Years before rumors of recent trouble between Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry circulated, the couple faced cheating rumors. In the early days of their relationship, Perry and Bloom went on romantic vacations together and were publicly affectionate at events. Not long into their romance, though, they faced cheating rumors. Bloom reportedly cheated on Perry with Selena Gomez, but the “Firework” singer eventually cleared things up.

Bloom and Perry first began dating in early 2016. That same year, media outlets reported that he’d gotten cozy with Gomez at a club.
“Selena was with a group of girlfriends and Orlando was hanging with his guys,” a source told E! News. “Orlando went over when her friends were out on the dance floor and Selena was all alone in her booth.”
The source claimed Gomez and Bloom were “neck-nuzzling and embracing” before they later “snuck away and got into a separate car together, just the two of them.”
Other sources said Gomez and Bloom’s relationship was purely platonic, though.
“Nothing happened with Selena and Orlando this past weekend,” one source said. “Orlando is with Katy and they are very happy and in love. Selena is all about her tour now, not really focusing on men.”

Photos that allegedly showed Bloom and Gomez together at the club spread rapidly on social media. Perry eventually stepped in and responded. She shared an article about Bloom’s visit to Eastern Ukraine to raise awareness of the global education crisis. Bloom is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
“Instead of giving energy & eyeballs to dumb conspiracy check out how [COOL] this is,” she wrote. She added the hashtag #dontfeedthebeast.
Gomez hopped on Twitter to agree with her. She shared Perry’s post and added a praise emoji.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s relationship has reportedly hit a rough patch
Nearly a decade after these rumors spread, Perry and Bloom’s relationship is reportedly under strain. Perry is currently on her Lifetimes Tour and has received a great deal of bad press in recent months. Her stress over the reception of her album, 143, has reportedly caused tension in her relationship.
“Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,” a source told People. “It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.”
Her tour, which has not received positive reviews, has always put strain on her relationship.
“She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews,” another source said. “It’s put stress on their relationship.”
Bloom and Perry have been engaged since early 2019. They welcomed their daughter, Daisy, in 2020. Perry recently added further fuel to the rumors when she stepped out without her engagement ring in Australia. Neither she nor Bloom has made a statement about their relationship, though.
