TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Prosecutors said, in May 2022, Ronny Walker shot 14-year-old Nilexia Alexander multiple times and left her body in an empty lot on West Floribraska Avenue.

Nilexia’s mother, Ashley Alexander, tearfully took the stand Thursday, identifying her daughter in a video shown in court.

“That Nilexia. That’s Nilexia. Her walk, her hair, her skin tone,” said Ashley Alexander.

Robert Creed, who was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, also took the stand Thursday.

“I heard a gunshot. I jumped. When I jumped, I looked, and I seen her. I looked in the backseat, I seen her holding her chest,” Creed said.

Walker’s defense team is arguing that it was Creed who pulled the trigger. During his testimony Thursday, Creed pointed the finger directly at Walker. Creed is currently charged as an accessory after the fact. He said he was in fear for his life after witnessing the murder.

“He jumped back in the car and pulled off, telling me, ‘Don’t say nothing, don’t tell nobody, don’t tell nobody.’ Or he gonna kill me too,” Creed said.

This isn’t Walker’s first time in trouble with the law. In 2010, he was convicted of manslaughter for the 2003 shooting death of a Tampa woman during a home invasion. If convicted in Nilexia’s murder, Walker faces the death penalty.
