CHICAGO (WLS) — A large Northwest Side porch fire spread to the roof and a second building on Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Fire Department said.
The Chicago Fire Department said firefighters initially responded to the fire in the Albany Park neighborhood’s 5100-block of North Kimball Avenue around 4 p.m.

The flames started at a back wooden porch of the three-to-four-story apartment building.
The fire then engulfed the building’s porches, and flames started shooting from the roof before spreading to a second building.
Chopper 7 was over the scene, where crews were seen pouring water on the roof from ladders.
Two buildings caught on fire in the North Park neighborhood’s 5100-block of North Kimball Avenue on Thursday afternoon.
At one point, CFD had to upgrade their response because the flames have proven to be extremely stubborn.
The fire appeared to be out, at one point, but then, it flared up again, which prompted CFD to send more manpower and equipment.
CFD said there are no reports of any injuries.
What started the fire was not immediately clear.
