SAVANNAH, Ga. () — is part of the Nexstar Media group. Every June, Nexstar staff members across the country volunteer in their communities.

This year, spent time with three local organizations: EmployAbility Savannah and Renegade Paws Rescue in the Coastal Empire and OPFOB in the Lowcountry.

EmployAbility is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  volunteers provided assistance for a program and BBQ picnic at Daffin Park.  Staff helped participants get on and off the busses, push wheelchairs and play games. 

Renegade Paws Rescue is a volunteer-based animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives and providing the highest level of care to unwanted, abused or injured dogs. staff assisted in giving their Puppy Room a much-needed makeover. They painted, built furniture and had lots of puppy playtime.

OPFOB stands for Operation Patriots Forward Operating Base.  It’s a non-profit organization in the Lowcountry that provides a refuge for veterans.  staff helped with landscaping around the barn and helped with painting and some construction around the barn.
