Cops remain in the area after two men were treated for serious but “non- life-threatening” injuries at the scene by the London Ambulance Service.

The pair were then taken to hospital, said the Met Police.

Seven men were detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm just before 10am today.

Another man was separately arrested on suspicion of breaching a public order imposed by police to prevent serious disorder.

Conditions were imposed under the Public Order Act requiring those involved in the protests in the vicinity of the embassy to disperse.

All other protestors left voluntarily, said cops.

The protest is understood to have been against the Iranian regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Other groups were seen flying flags supporting Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi – the son of the shah who ruled Iran from 1941 until the 1979 revolution.

Meanwhile, some demonstrators waved Israeli flags.

In a statement, the Met Police said: “Conditions have since been put in place to prevent serious disorder. This stops protesters from gathering in the area until 1pm on Sunday 22 June.

“One man has been taken into police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of breaching the above conditions.

“Seven other men remain in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.”

Cops said they would “maintain a presence in the area” in the coming days to ensure any other further incidents are “swiftly dealt with”.

A spokesman for the Met previously said: “At 9.53am on Friday, 20 June, officers responded to reports of an altercation in Prince’s Gate, SW1.

“Two men were treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital for further treatment by the London Ambulance Service.

“Police have cordoned off the area while initial investigations take place.”
