A 6-year-old Kentucky girl is in critical condition and her mother in jail on attempted murder charges after she allegedly beat the little girl in the head with a hammer.
Louisville Metro Police officers responded to the call at about 12:45 p.m. on Thursday and found the girl with multple blunt force injuries to her head, WLKY reported. She was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital, where she remains hospitalized.
Police said Zeinab Abdi, the 39-year-old mother, told investigators she “becomes extremely angry and has difficulty controlling herself.” She admitted that she hit the girl in the had with a hammer “an unknown amount of times.”
Her son, who age was not given, told police his mother told him, “Let me finish her” and tried to get back to the girl when he separated them.
Louisville Police said Abdi was charged with attempted murder (domestic violence). She was arraigned on Friday and given a $500,000 bond, WLKY said. The judge ordered her to have no contact with any children, including her own.
