After the United States launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites this past weekend, The View‘s Joy Behar pointed out that the historic move noticeably goes against the “no more wars” campaign President Trump ran on during the election.

“Before the strike there was trouble in MAGA paradise. Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson said that getting involved in Iran would go completely against Trump’s America first ethos,” she explained during Monday’s (June 23) broadcast.

“He was all about no more wars, no foreign wars,” she continued. “I remember him saying all that. He was furious with George Bush for what he did.”

But she noted President Trump’s typical supporters have been “very quiet” since the attack.

The ladies of The View were joined by ABC News’ chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl who pointed out that President Trump said in his inaugural address, “We will measure our success not only by the battles we win, but also by the wars that we end.”

“This was a central campaign promise, not just another list of promises. This was a defining feature of the Trump movement… ‘The Republicans, they got us into wars, we will not do that,’” he said.

He also acknowledged that President Trump’s most vocal supporters “have been remarkably quiet.”

He noted that Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene did criticize the move, but was still “very polite” in her opposition, he said.

Despite their silence, Karl maintained, “The MAGA movement’s going to be with the MAGA leader.”
